Reason for Loss | 103 Squadron's Airfield was Bombed by Dorniers. Sgt Dowling was found Dead in a silt trench having been completely covered when the trench collapsed. F/O R D Max and his gunner (name unknown) had also dived into the trench on hearing the approaching Dorniers but survived. They dug out Sgt Dowling with their bare hands but sadly he was already dead. |
