Reason for Loss Dorothy died with Flight Lieutenant Jesse Jennings when the RAF van he was driving crashed 20 feet into the Forty Foot drain between White Bridge and Three Pots in Chatteris , Ely, Cambridgeshire, drowning them both. Tragically, it appears that the submerged van was not discovered for two days. The drain is notoriously dangerous and is still claiming lives today.
