Reason for Loss Died of injuries sustained during an enemy air raid on RAF Scampton. The aircraft dropped 9 high explosive bombs causing damage to one of the hangars and blowing out windows in neighbouring buildings. The station ORB simply states that "One NCO killed". The attack occurred at 0020hrs.
