Reason for Loss Hampshire Telegraph 11 July 1941: "Young Petersfield Soldier Drowned. Roger William Pett (20), was accidentally drowned in the River Avon, near Worcester, on Thursday of last week. He had been serving in the R.A.F. about a year. A son of the late Mr. W. T. Pett and of Mrs. Pett, 16, Hylton Road, Petersfield, he had been on a period of leave at home the week previously. The funeral took place at Petersfield on Tuesday afternoon, the first part of the service being held in St. Peter's Church where as a boy he sang in the choir. The Vicar (the Rev. E. C. A. Kent) officiated. Mr. R. G. Harwood was at the organ. The coffin was shrouded with the Union Jack."
