Reason for Loss | Killed in collision with a van/ lorry on the Great North Road (now the A1) two miles south of Stamford. It is thought that a Manchester bomber that he had been training in was diverted to Wittering due to a technical problem and Sgt. McPhee was given a lift into Stamford for a night out. On walking back he and 1381589 Sgt Parry were struck and killed by the vehicle. |
