Reason for Loss | Hit by flak over Dorsten but only slightly damaged. The bomb aimer Lindsay received superficial injuries but the aircraft proceeded to the target area and dropped its bombs but suffered a direct flak hit moments afterwards and exploded in mid-air. Lindsay was blown out of the aircrfat but fortunately had donned his parachute just in case when he was slightly injured earlier in the operation. He was coned during his parachute descent but feigned death. He landed in the Krupps works and was taken to hospital where he remained for three weeks before being discharged to become a PoW. |
