Reason for Loss | Leamington Spa Courier September 25th 1942: "FATAL ACCIDENT AT CHADSHUNT. At 5.40 p.m. on Saturday an R.A.F. lorry, which was being driven through Chadshunt towards Gaydon, collided with an Army motor lorry going in the opposite direction. The collision occurred at a bend in the road thirty yards on the Kineton side of the Chadshunt cross roads. Aircraftman William Albert Brooks, aged 21, was killed, but another airman in the vehicle was unhurt. At an inquest conducted by Mr. G. F. Lodder at Wellesbourne, it transpired that the deceased airman was a passenger in the lorry and a native of Newport, Mon. A verdict of death through misadventure was returned. the airman - who had been located in Warwickshire some months - was known at various village functions, and his death caused much regret." |
